Topping works, but every cut is a wound and a few days of recovery. Pre by Bloom does the same job with a signal instead of scissors: two kelps plus humic acid that push the plant to grow out rather than up, so you finish veg with more lateral branches and more places for flowers to form. It's a short, early-veg product. You run it at 1ml per litre for weeks 2–3 of veg, then taper off, and a litre makes 1,000 litres of feed. Plan it in from the start: it shapes a young plant, it won't rescue one that has already stretched.

Branching without the cutNo wound, no recovery downtime and no tools to sterilise between plants.
More flower sitesEvery extra lateral shoot is another site the plant can fill in flower.
A two-week jobRuns in weeks 2–3 of veg only, so one bottle covers a lot of grows.
1 litre makes 1,000 litresAt 1ml per litre, the 300ml bottle suits a tent and the drums suit a room.
Two kelps plus humic acidAscophyllum nodosum and Durvillaea potatorum kelps with leonardite humic acid and vitamin B1.
Sits on top of your baseNo need to cut back your base nutrients to run it.

Grower's Tip

  • Start Pre in week 2 of veg. It works on young plants setting their frame, so the window is early.
  • Taper off after week 3. Pre is a veg product and Ultra takes over at the start of flower.
  • Pre and training work together. Low-stress training spreads the extra branches out so they all get light.
  • Add Pre with your other nutrients and adjust pH last. The concentrate is alkaline.
  • Shake well before use. Colour and consistency vary a little between batches, which is normal.
  • Running a short veg? Start Pre with the first feed after your plants have settled in rather than waiting.

How To Use It

1Shake the bottle well.
2From week 2 of veg, add 1ml per litre to your nutrient solution alongside your base nutrients.
3Mix thoroughly, then check and adjust pH last.
4Feed as normal at every watering through weeks 2–3 of veg.
5Taper off after week 3 and move on to Ultra at the start of flower.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need to top my plants?

No, not necessarily. Pre's job is to push lateral branching without cutting. Plenty of growers still use low-stress training to spread the canopy.

When do I use Pre?

Weeks 2–3 of veg at 1ml per litre, every feed, then taper off.

Can I use Pre in flower?

No. Bloom schedules it for early veg only. Ultra takes over in the first two weeks of flower.

Is Pre a plant growth regulator?

No. It's a kelp and humic acid biostimulant, and Bloom states its products contain no banned plant growth regulators.

Do I need to cut back my base nutrients?

No. Bloom designs its additives to run alongside your base feed at its normal rate, so you add Pre on top rather than in place of anything.

Does Pre affect pH?

It can. The concentrate is alkaline (pH 8–10), so add it with your nutrients and adjust pH last.

How long does a bottle last?

A litre makes 1,000 litres of feed at 1ml per litre. The 300ml makes 300 litres.

Is it certified organic?

No. Bloom makes the range mostly from organic sources, but the products are not certified organic, so we don't sell them as organic.

Growers First, Retailers Second

Welcome to The Grow Guys

We built The Grow Guys from the soil up — well, coco and perlite. Before we sold gear, we bought it, ran it, and learned the hard way what's worth the money and what ends up in the shed. That's the filter everything on our shelves passes through. No sales scripts, no rebadged junk, no telling you what you want to hear. Just gear we'd run ourselves and advice from people who actually grow. Chasing higher yields, tighter flowers, or your first harvest? You're in the right place.
