      BudTrainer — Plant Training Gear

BudTrainer Australia — LST Clips, Fabric Pots & Plant Training Gear

BudTrainer makes the cleanest low-stress training gear on the market. Engineered by a mechanical engineer who got tired of cracked branches and dodgy craft-wire workarounds, the range covers the full training workflow — clips that hold a proper 180° bend, fabric pots that don’t fold when you transplant, reusable nursery cups, rubber-coated garden wire, and repair tape for when you push a branch too far. The Grow Guys ships BudTrainer Australia-wide from our Tasmanian warehouse, with free shipping over $499*.

      Why growers rate BudTrainer

      Designed by an actual engineer
Founder went through roughly ten prototypes before BudClips landed. The gear works because someone with a CAD background and real grow-room hours designed it.
      Built around commercial logic
After a post-grad in commercial horticultural production, the design philosophy is the same one large-scale operations use — simple, repeatable, durable.
Train 20 branches in two minutes
BudClips remove the tying, re-tying and pinched-stem mess. Snap them on, bend the branch, move on. Done in a fraction of the time of string or wire alone.
      Reusable, not disposable
Clips, cups and wire all wash up and run cycle after cycle. BudClips are moulded from recycled plastic and built to outlast cheaper imports by a wide margin.
Fabric pots that hold their shape
BudPots stay rigid when filling, transplanting, watering and training — with tear-proof, rust-proof grommets you can anchor wire and clips into without the bag collapsing.
      Beginner-friendly, pro-grade
The gear is gentle enough for your first training run and durable enough for growers who’ve been at it for years. Same kit, both ends of the spectrum.

      The BudTrainer story

BudTrainer started the way most of the best brands start — with one grower fed up with gear that didn’t work. The founder began home-growing medicinal plants in 2019 and spent two years breaking branches, slicing stems with ties, and ending up with bushy plants and disappointing harvests. Online advice was a mess of conflicting opinions. So he went back to school and finished a post-grad in commercial horticultural production at Niagara College, watching operations run hundreds of thousands of plants on simple, repeatable systems.

The takeaway: commercial growers simplify everything to save time and money. Home growers should be able to do the same. As a mechanical engineer with years of design and manufacturing experience, he had the skills to fix his own problems — so he bought a 3D printer, opened CAD, and started prototyping. The clips on the market were too aggressive, pinched stems, and wouldn’t stack into a proper 180° bend. Around ten prototypes in — moving from soft rubber to a harder plastic with a thinner profile and better curvature — he had a clip that guided branches gently instead of forcing them. That became BudClips.

There was never a plan to build a brand. Local shops started reordering, then online growers found them, and the demand kept growing. Every product after BudClips followed the same logic: BudPots that don’t collapse, BudCups that replace single-use nursery plastic, BudHuggers wire built for real plants rather than craft projects, and BudTape for the moments when you push training a little too far. No influencer hype. Just gear designed by someone who’s been in the same frustrating spot you’re in.

      What BudTrainer makes

      Grow Guys Tip
When a branch feels like it’s about to snap, don’t force the bend — do a branch squeeze first. Pinch the stem gently between thumb and finger at the bend point until it softens, then clip. The plant heals back thicker and stronger at that exact spot. It’s the trick that separates clean LST from a pile of broken branches and BudTape patches.

      Frequently Asked

      BudTrainer FAQ

      Is BudTrainer available in Australia?
Yes. The Grow Guys ships the BudTrainer range Australia-wide from our Tasmanian warehouse. Free shipping on orders over $499*.
      Are BudClips reusable?
Yes. BudClips are moulded from recycled plastic and built to be rinsed and reused for years. Wash with soap and water or run them through the dishwasher between cycles.
What size branches do BudClips fit?
BudClips fit branches up to roughly 3/8 inch thick — suitable for seedlings, vegetative plants and flowering plants. They interlock so you can stack multiple clips on a single stem and bend in stages.
What’s the difference between BudClips and generic LST clips?
BudClips are designed to hold a full 180° bend and interlock with each other so you can train both sides of a stem without the clips colliding. Most generic clips pinch stems, bump into each other when you try to stack them, and crack after a couple of cycles.
