Pairs well with
Most 720W bar lights give you one option: hang it over the canopy and hope your room is the right shape. The Horti-Vision 720W Specialist Split Line 3.0 gives you two. Run it whole as a 2160 μmol/s top light over a 1.5 × 1.5m canopy, or pull the quick-release pin at the centre joint and it becomes two independent 360W fixtures — one for each tier of a rack, or one down each sidewall of a narrow room. At 3.0 μmol/J it also puts out roughly 11% more light per watt than the Horti-Vision Slim Line, with a four-step dimmer, IP44 protection and control ports for the Horti-Vision controller all built into a slim integrated-driver frame.

Grower's Tip
- Hang height is a starting point, not a rule. Horti-Vision says 50–100cm above the canopy; where you sit in that range depends on the dimmer step and how the plants respond. Pale, tight, curling leaf tips mean too much — raise it or step the dimmer down.
- Buy a PAR meter before you buy a second light. A reading at canopy tells you more than any coverage chart, and it is the only honest way to balance intensity across two split halves.
- Splitting is a lights-off job. Power down, wait 20–30 minutes, then pull the pin. The bars hold heat, and the pin is the only part you are meant to separate — opening anything else breaks the water-tight seal and voids the warranty.
- Hang each half level from its own hanging points, not from one corner. A tilted bar puts a hot spot on one plant and starves the next.
- Keep misters and sulfur burners away from it. IP44 handles humidity, not direct spray, and Horti-Vision specifically rules out sulfur vaporisers and water misters near the fixture. If sulfur is part of your pest plan, run it somewhere else.
- Dust the bars, don't wash them. Unplugged and cooled, a feather duster or a soft damp cloth is all it needs — no solvents, alcohol or window cleaner, and no fingers on the diodes, even when it is off.
How To Set It Up
Pairs Well With
UVA, blue and far-red booster bars that clip onto the fixture. Spectrum control the base light doesn't give you.
Horti-Vision Smart ControllerPlugs into the RJ14 control port. Run and dim multiple Horti-Vision fixtures from one controller.
Rope Ratchets by The Grow GuysThe manual says hang it on rope ratchets. These are the ones we hang ours on. Four points, four ratchets.
Horti-Vision 720W Producer LEDThe foldable 6-bar sibling. Same 720W, no split — pick this if you only ever want one big top light.
PAR MetersMeasure what actually lands on the canopy and set the dimmer off numbers, not guesses.
Horti-Vision 720W Specialist Slim LineThe other 720W Specialist: foldable, 1944 μmol/s at 2.7 μmol/J, no split. Compare them before you choose.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Split Line 3.0 and the Slim Line?
They are two different 720W Specialist fixtures. Both draw 720W, both have the same four dimming steps and both work with the Horti-Vision controller. The Slim Line is a foldable fixture rated at 1944 μmol/s and 2.7 μmol/J. The Split Line 3.0 is rated at 2160 μmol/s and 3.0 μmol/J and has the quick-release centre pin that lets it run as two independent 360W units. If you want one fixture that can become two, this is the one.
How does the split actually work?
There is a quick-release pin at the centre joint. With the fixture powered off and cooled for 20–30 minutes, remove the pin and the two halves separate. Each half is a fully functional 360W LED fixture and can be hung independently on its own hanging points. Refit the pin to run it as one 720W light again. The pin is the only separation point — do not open or modify any other part.
Do I need the Horti-Vision controller?
No. The fixture has a manual dimmer with four steps (290W, 430W, 580W, 720W) on the fixture itself, so it runs on its own out of the box. The control ports and the included RJ14 cable are there for when you want to link several fixtures to a Horti-Vision controller and manage them from one point.
What area does it cover?
Run whole at 720W, it covers a 1.5 × 1.5m canopy — a 1.5m tent, or one 1.5m bay in a room. Split, each 360W half covers roughly half that, about 0.75 × 1.5m, which is why one half suits a rack shelf or a narrow sidewall run. Spread the two halves apart and the footprint grows to around 1.5 × 3m, but that is the same 2160 μmol/s over twice the floor, so expect about half the intensity on the leaf — veg coverage rather than full-power flowering coverage. Hang height and dimmer step move those numbers in practice, which is what the PAR meter is for.
Can I use it in a humid tent, or with a humidifier or sulfur vaporiser?
Humidity is fine — the fixture is IP44 rated for splash protection. Direct spray is not: keep it away from water misters, do not spray towards it, and never submerge it. Horti-Vision also says not to use it near sulfur vaporisers, so if sulfur burning is part of your pest routine, do that away from the fixture.
What is in the box, and do I need rope ratchets?
The 720W LED fixture, an IEC power cord, an external RJ14 network cable and four hangers. The manual recommends rope ratchets through the hanging points to your tent or ceiling — they are not included, so grab a set if you do not already have four.
Is it suitable for seedlings and clones?
Yes, at the low end of the dimmer. Run 290W and hang it towards the top of the 50–100cm range over seedlings and cuttings, then step the dimmer up and bring it down as the plants harden off and the canopy fills. Full spectrum means one fixture covers the whole cycle.
What warranty does it come with?
Horti-Vision backs the Split Line 3.0 with a 3-year warranty. The quick-release pin is the only part you are meant to separate — opening the fixture or the driver breaks the water-tight seal and voids it. Claims go through us as the reseller; the process is on our warranty policy page.
How do I clean it?
Unplug it and let it cool to room temperature, then use a feather duster or a soft damp cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasives, solvents, acetone, alcohol or window cleaner, do not open the retaining clips, and let it dry completely before you plug it back in. Check the power cable for damage while you are at it.
