Cannazym is CANNA's enzyme-based root zone additive, designed to break down dead root material in the substrate and convert it into nutrients and sugars that beneficial microorganisms and the plant itself can use. In any soil or coco grow, old root tissue accumulates over time — Cannazym prevents that dead matter from becoming a source of rot, disease, and blockage, keeping the root zone clean, active, and receptive to nutrients. Available in 250ml, 1L, and 5L.

Breaks Down Dead Root Matter Active enzymes decompose dead root tissue in the substrate before it becomes a breeding ground for rot, mould, and pathogenic organisms.
Converts Waste to Nutrients Decomposed root matter is converted into sugars and nutrients that feed beneficial microorganisms and become partially available for plant uptake.
Supports Beneficial Microbiology Creates a substrate environment that is more hospitable to beneficial bacteria and fungi — the foundation of a healthy, productive root zone.
Use Throughout the Full Cycle Runs from early veg all the way to flush — root zone management is not a one-off treatment but an ongoing part of a healthy feed programme.

Grower Tip
  • Use Cannazym from the very first feed — starting early keeps dead root accumulation under control rather than trying to address a build-up that has already occurred.
  • Do not mix Cannazym with hydrogen peroxide — H2O2 degrades the enzyme complex and renders it ineffective. If you are using H2O2 as a root treatment, they cannot be used in the same feed.
  • Continue Cannazym through the flush period — enzyme activity in the root zone remains beneficial right to harvest.

How to Use

1
Add to every feed from week 1 — Include Cannazym in your feed solution from the first week of growth, not just when you notice root problems.
2
Dose at the recommended rate — Follow the CANNA feed chart for your growth stage. Cannazym is typically dosed at a consistent rate throughout the cycle.
3
Mix into your feed solution — Add after base nutrients. Cannazym is compatible with all CANNA base nutrients and most additives (except H2O2).
4
Adjust pH and feed — Bring your feed solution to the correct pH for your substrate and water as normal.
5
Continue through to harvest — Maintain Cannazym through the flush phase — enzyme activity remains beneficial in the root zone right through to cut.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Cannazym in hydroponic systems?

Cannazym is designed primarily for substrate-based growing — soil, coco, and peat. For recirculating hydroponic systems without a substrate, it is less relevant as there is no dead root material in a growing medium to decompose. CANNA does not specifically recommend it for bare-root hydro setups.

Can I mix Cannazym with hydrogen peroxide?

No. H2O2 oxidises the enzyme complex in Cannazym and deactivates it entirely. If you are using hydrogen peroxide as a root treatment, do not use Cannazym in the same feed or within the same watering cycle.

Does Cannazym replace Rhizotonic?

No — they serve different purposes. Rhizotonic stimulates new root growth. Cannazym breaks down dead root matter and supports the existing root zone's health and cleanliness. They complement each other and are commonly used together throughout the grow cycle.

When should I start using Cannazym?

From the first feed after transplanting. Starting early keeps the root zone clean from the outset rather than waiting for dead root accumulation to become a problem. Proactive use is far more effective than reactive use.

Which size should I buy?

The 250ml suits a single plant or a trial run. The 1L covers most 2–6 plant grows through a full cycle. The 5L is for larger operations or growers who run Cannazym consistently across multiple cycles and want to reduce cost per litre.
