Pairs well with
Most indoor plant foods are a guess: a bit of N, a bit of P, a bit of K and a lot of hope. Foliage Focus is a complete liquid nutrient made in Australia by Growth Technology for plants grown for their leaves — aroids, ferns, palms, calatheas, hoyas and the rare stuff you paid too much for. It carries all 12 essential minerals in a form roots take up immediately, it is pH buffered so you mix it with tap water and go, and it contains no urea, chlorides or sodium, which is why it works in LECA and semi-hydro as well as it does in potting mix. It is not a flowering feed: if the plant is grown for blooms, use Flower Focus. Available in 250ml, 1L, 5L and 20L.
Specifications
Grower's Tip
- Start at the bottom of the range (3ml per litre in potting mix, 5ml in LECA) and move up as the plant matures. Growth Technology's own advice is to increase strength gradually as the plant approaches maturity.
- Flush with plain water once a month. Feeding at every watering is only sustainable if you clear the mineral salts that accumulate in the pot.
- Mix a fresh batch each fortnight. Pre-mixed nutrient keeps for about 1–2 weeks before it is worth replacing.
- In semi-hydro, a full reservoir change beats topping up. Top-ups concentrate whatever the plant did not use.
- A 1L bottle at 5ml per litre makes 200 litres of feed. For a shelf of houseplants the 250ml is the honest size; the 5L is for collections and the 20L for growers and plant shops.
- Store the concentrate somewhere cool and dark. The fridge is not needed, the windowsill is a bad idea.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Foliage Focus suitable for semi-hydro and LECA?
Yes. It is a complete hydroponic nutrient with no urea, chlorides or sodium, so it works in inert media. Use 5–7ml per litre of water and flush the pot monthly.
Can I use Foliage Focus on flowering plants?
No, not as the main feed. It is formulated for non-flowering foliage plants. For plants grown for blooms, Growth Technology makes Flower Focus, and for orchids the Orchid Focus range.
Do I need to adjust the pH?
No, not with most tap water. Foliage Focus is pH buffered, so at the recommended dose the solution lands in the right range without a pH pen.
How often should I feed?
At every watering, at the recommended dose, with a plain-water flush once a month to clear mineral salts. That is Growth Technology's direction and it suits how most indoor growers already water.
What is the NPK?
Growth Technology publishes a full analysis rather than an NPK ratio: nitrate-nitrogen 2.2%, phosphorus 0.4% and potassium 2.2% w/v, with calcium, magnesium, sulfur and six chelated trace elements. The full table is in Specifications.
Does it smell?
No. Foliage Focus is completely odourless, which matters when the plants live in the lounge room.
How long does a mixed solution last?
About 1–2 weeks. After that, replace it. Mixed nutrient left sitting can start to harbour bacteria or fungi.
Can I use it on rare aroids and variegated plants?
Yes. Growth Technology formulated it for both common and rare tropical varieties. Start at the lower dose and increase as the plant settles in.
Which size should I buy?
250ml suits a shelf of houseplants, 1L a serious collection, 5L a plant room or small nursery, and the 20L is for growers and retailers. The 20L ships on a flat freight rate rather than parcel post.
