Roses are heavy feeders with a long flowering season, and the usual approach of a handful of granules in spring leaves them running on empty by Christmas. Rose Focus is Growth Technology's complete liquid nutrient for roses, made in Australia: all 12 essential minerals, extra calcium in a highly soluble form, nitrogen as nitrate, no urea, chlorides or sodium, and pH buffered for tap water. Growth Technology formulates it for large, vibrant, fragrant, longer-lasting blooms, and because it goes on at every watering the plant is fed through the whole season rather than in one hit. It suits roses in pots, beds and standards, at 3–10ml per litre. Available in 250ml, 1L, 5L and 20L.

Grower's Tip
- Start feeding as the first new leaves open after winter pruning and keep going at every watering until the plant slows in autumn.
- Potted roses get the low end of the range and more frequent watering; a rose in the ground can take the higher rate once it is established.
- Water the solution onto the soil, not the foliage, and water early in the day. Wet leaves overnight are an invitation to fungal problems that no fertiliser fixes.
- Flush pots with plain water once a month. Roses in containers show salt stress as scorched leaf margins.
- Deadhead to the first outward-facing five-leaflet leaf and the next flush comes faster. Feeding gives the plant the reserves to make it.
- Mix fresh each fortnight and store the concentrate cool and dark.
How To Use It
Pairs Well With
Tasmanian-made potting mix. Fresh mix plus a complete feed is most of what a potted plant needs.
Silica by Growth TechnologyPotassium silicate for stronger cell walls and stems. Add it to the same watering can.
Rootzone by Growth TechnologyRoot biostimulant for the weeks after repotting or transplanting, when the plant is rebuilding roots.
Flower Focus by Growth TechnologyFor the rest of the flower garden. Same range, higher potassium, no extra calcium.
Specialty Plant FertilisersEvery plant-specific feed we stock, the whole Focus range included.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Rose Focus suitable for potted roses?
Yes. It is formulated for soil, potting mix and hydroponics. Use the low end of the range (3ml per litre) on potted roses and flush the pot monthly.
How often should I feed roses with it?
At every watering through the growing season, from the first spring leaves until the plant slows in autumn. Growth Technology directs the whole Focus range to be used at every watering.
Does it contain urea?
No. Rose Focus is free from urea, chlorides and sodium. Nitrogen is supplied as nitrate.
Why the extra calcium?
Growth Technology includes extra calcium in a highly soluble form to support strong growth and, in its words, help increase disease resistance. Calcium at 1.1% w/v is higher than in Flower Focus.
Do I need to adjust the pH?
No, not with most tap water. It is pH buffered.
How much do I use?
3–7ml per litre of water in soil and potting mix, 5–10ml per litre in hydroponics, at every watering. Flush with plain water once a month.
What is the NPK?
Growth Technology publishes a full analysis rather than a ratio: nitrate-nitrogen 1.8%, phosphorus 0.6% and potassium 2.3% w/v, plus calcium, magnesium, sulfur and six chelated trace elements. The full table is in Specifications.
Can I use it on other flowering shrubs?
Yes, it will feed them, but Flower Focus is the range's general flowering formula. Rose Focus is balanced specifically for roses with the extra calcium they respond to.
How long does a mixed solution last?
About 1–2 weeks. After that, replace it.
