The 600W Metal Halide Lamp by Digi-Lumen is a single-ended 6000K bulb engineered for high-frequency digital ballasts. With 988 μmol/s of PPF and 57,600 lumens of output, it pushes a clean, daylight-quality blue spectrum that drives tight vegetative growth, lush foliage, and strong stem structure. Built specifically for electronic ballasts running above 60 kHz, this lamp is the veg-stage workhorse for any grower who's already running a digital setup.

988 μmol/s PPF Strong photon flux output for a 600W single-ended MH — drives healthy veg-stage canopy density.
6000K Daylight Spectrum Cool, crisp blue light that mimics natural daylight and locks in tight nodal spacing.
Digital Ballast Match Optimised for high-frequency electronic ballasts running over 60 kHz — runs stable, runs hard.
E40 Mogul Base Standard SE fitting — drops straight into any single-ended reflector with an E40 socket.

Heads Up — Lamp Care Basics
  • The arc tube runs hot — up to 1100°C internally. Treat the bulb with respect when handling.
  • Never restart a hot lamp. Wait at least 10 minutes after power-off before firing it back up, or you'll cook the bulb early.
  • Clean only when the lamp is fully cold. Liquids on a hot bulb can crack the quartz jacket.
  • Always handle with clean gloves or a soft cloth. Skin oils cause hot spots and shorten lamp life.
  • This lamp is for digital ballasts only — magnetic ballasts are not compatible.

How To Use

1
Confirm your ballast is a 600W high-frequency digital electronic unit (over 60 kHz). Magnetic ballasts will not run this lamp.
2
Power down the ballast and let any previous lamp cool fully before swapping. Use a clean cloth or gloves when handling the new bulb.
3
Screw the lamp into your single-ended E40 reflector socket — finger-tight only, no force needed.
4
Hang the reflector at a sensible height above the canopy and dial in your extraction — HID lamps put out heat, so airflow matters.
5
Power up — the lamp will reach full output within roughly 15 minutes. Watch your canopy temps and adjust height as needed.
6
When you're ready to flip to flower, kill the power, let the lamp cool, and swap in a 600W HPS to run on the same digital ballast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this lamp run on a magnetic ballast?

No. This is a high-frequency lamp designed for electronic digital ballasts running above 60 kHz. Magnetic ballasts cycle at 50 Hz and won't fire this bulb correctly. If you're on a magnetic setup, look at a retro-fit MH lamp instead.

Can I run this lamp through flowering?

No. This is a 6000K cool blue spectrum, built for veg. For bloom, swap to a 600W HPS lamp on the same digital ballast — that's the red-rich spectrum your plants want when flipping to flower.

Is this single-ended or double-ended?

Single-ended (SE) with an E40 mogul base. It fits any standard SE reflector — not for double-ended (DE) fixtures.

What PPF does this lamp put out?

988 μmol/s of photosynthetic photon flux, with a luminous output of 57,600 lumens. That's solid output for a 600W single-ended MH lamp on a digital ballast.

How long does a Metal Halide lamp last?

MH lamps degrade faster than HPS — output noticeably drops over time. Most growers replace MH bulbs every 6 to 12 months depending on hours of use. Pale, stretchy growth is your cue the lamp's tired and PAR has fallen off.

Why is this MH lamp better than a retro-fit MH?

It's a different tool for a different setup. A digital-tuned MH like this one runs more stable on high-frequency ballasts, holds output better over its life, and pairs cleanly with dimmable digital systems. Retro-fit MH lamps are built to run on cheaper magnetic ballasts — handy if that's what you've got, but not the same performance ceiling.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship across Australia from our Tasmanian base. Free shipping kicks in over $499*. HID lamps are packed carefully to handle transit, but if anything arrives damaged, give us a yell and we'll sort it.
