Pairs well with
The Halo 1000W XL is the wider, larger sibling to the standard Halo 1000W — same wattage, same efficacy, but a 10-bar bi-fold frame that spreads light across a 4.86 m² canopy instead of 3.24 m². If you're running a 2.4 x 2.4 m space or larger, or you want a single fixture covering more ground without the complexity of running two lights, this is the one to look at. Same built-in driver, same 5-step manual dimming, same daisy-chain capability — just a significantly bigger footprint.
- Running a 1.5 x 1.5 m or 1.8 x 1.8 m tent? The standard 9-bar Halo 1000W is the better fit — tighter PPFD for a smaller footprint.
- Running a 2.4 x 2.4 m space or larger? The XL gives you the wider spread to fill it without running two lights or leaving edges underlit.
- Both fixtures draw identical wattage and produce identical PPF — the difference is purely in how that output is distributed across the canopy.
- At the same height, the XL will produce a lower PPFD per m² than the standard Halo. That's a feature, not a flaw — large canopies don't need the same intensity as a tight 1.8 x 1.8 m flower space.

Setting Up Your Halo 1000W XL
Pairs Well With
Running multiple lights in a larger room? The standard 9-bar Halo pairs well with the XL for tighter zones or can be run in tandem across a split canopy.
Extreme 200W Under Canopy Light by Digi-LumenAt this coverage area, under-canopy lighting pays dividends. Add targeted side and lower canopy exposure to maximise the work the XL is doing from above.
Side Bar 250W by Digi-LumenVertical bars alongside the canopy for penetration into dense growth. Same Digi-Lumen ecosystem, daisy-chain compatible with the XL.
Grow TentsThe XL's 2.7 x 1.8 m light spread suits a 2.4 x 2.4 m or 3.0 x 2.0 m tent. Browse the range to find the right space for this fixture.
Inline & Exhaust FansA larger space needs proportionally larger air movement. Size your extraction correctly for the tent volume you're running this light in.
Environment ControllersLarger spaces are harder to keep dialled. An environment controller lets you automate lighting, temperature and humidity response across the whole room.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Halo 1000W and the Halo 1000W XL?
The XL uses a 10-bar bi-fold frame vs the standard model's 9-bar tri-fold. Both draw 1000W and produce 2700 µmol/s PPF, but the XL spreads that output across a 4.86 m² footprint (2700 x 1800 mm) compared to the standard model's 3.24 m² (1800 x 1800 mm). The XL produces lower PPFD per m² at the same wattage — suited to larger, more open canopies. The standard model delivers higher intensity into a tighter space.
What tent size does the Halo 1000W XL suit?
The XL's 2700 x 1800 mm light spread suits a 2.4 x 2.4 m tent well, and works in larger rooms from there. It is not the right choice for a 1.8 x 1.8 m tent — you would be overspending on a fixture that spreads past your walls. For that space, the standard Halo 1000W is the more precise fit.
Does the Halo 1000W XL need an external controller?
No. The built-in driver includes a manual rotary dimmer with five output settings: 200W, 400W, 600W, 800W and 1000W. It runs standalone without any additional hardware. For multi-fixture rooms, the Digi-Lumen ECO Smart Controller can manage up to 30 daisy-chained units and adds scheduling, sunrise/sunset simulation, and temperature-responsive auto-dimming.
Is the XL compatible with standard Australian power outlets?
Yes. It runs on 220–240V AC at 50–60 Hz and draws 4.17A at full 1000W output — identical draw to the standard Halo 1000W. Standard 10A circuits handle this without issue. If you're running multiple 1000W loads on one circuit, check total draw against your breaker rating before powering up.
Why is the PPFD lower than the standard Halo at 30 cm?
The XL produces 1384 µmol/m²/s at 30 cm vs 1360 µmol/m²/s for the standard model at the same distance — they are nearly identical at close range. The meaningful difference is that the XL maintains useful PPFD across a wider area. The same 2700 µmol/s of total photon output is being distributed across 4.86 m² rather than 3.24 m², so average PPFD across the full footprint is lower. This is appropriate and intentional for large canopy applications.
Can this light handle both vegetative growth and flowering?
Yes. The 4000K full-spectrum output covers the complete PAR range from seedling through harvest. The dual-peak spectrum — blue and red — supports tight internodal spacing in veg and dense flowering in bloom. Use the dimmer to run lower output during early growth stages and ramp to full power as plants mature into flower.
What warranty does the Halo 1000W XL carry?
Digi-Lumen provides a 2-year manufacturer warranty on this fixture. The Grow Guys back every Digi-Lumen product under our standard warranty policy — get in touch if anything goes wrong and we'll sort it out.
More Canopy. Same Wattage.
2700 µmol/s across 4.86 m². The Halo 1000W XL is built for growers who've outgrown a single standard light.
