Ed Rosenthal's Zero Tolerance is the 699ml ready-to-use aerosol that growers reach for when thrips, broad mites, spider mites, or fungus gnats show up uninvited. It's a food-grade blend of cinnamon, clove, rosemary, and thyme oils — OMRI-listed, safe through to late flower, and leaves no residue because the oils evaporate fully. It pairs into any IPM program, works as a residual room barrier, and is safer for fish, reptiles, and beneficial insects than pyrethrum.

OMRI-Listed Organic Certified for organic growing. 100% herbal, food-grade essential oils only.
Zero Residue Oils evaporate fully. No oily film, no taste impact, no post-harvest washing drama.

Grower Tips
  • Spray with lights off or dimmed — never in direct light or on heat-stressed plants. Leaves can burn if transpiration is high.
  • Coverage beats concentration. Get under the leaves, into the nodes, and onto the top of the media where thrips and gnats hide.
  • Use it preventatively on tent zippers, walls, and inside prop dome lids as a residual pest barrier — cheaper than treating an outbreak later.
  • Young plants are more sensitive — use short bursts from further away and test one leaf first.
  • Pair with beneficial predators 3–4 days after your last ZT spray for lasting organic control.

How to Treat an Active Infestation

1
Remove heavily affected leaves and any dead material. Bag them as you cut — thrips, aphids and spider mites jump and spread the moment they feel disturbed.
2
Turn lights off. Shake the can well. Spray underside and top of leaves, main stems, and the top layer of your growing media.
3
Repeat the full application 2–3 days later. This catches the eggs that hatched after round one and breaks the breeding cycle.
4
A third application 2 days after the second locks in control. ZT is non-residual, so coverage and frequency are what matter.
5
Release beneficial predators 3–4 days after your final spray. Because ZT leaves no residue, predators move straight in and keep any re-emerging pests under control without further sprays.

FAQ

Can I use Zero Tolerance during flowering?

Yes. ZT is safe through flower right up to around 5 days before harvest. Spray lights-off and use a light misting pass on dense buds — you don't want pooling in the heads. Leaves no residue because the essential oils evaporate fully.

Does it actually kill broad mites and thrips?

Yes — ZT is one of the few organic options with a reputation for handling both. The key is coverage (underside of leaves, inner canopy) and repeat applications 2–3 days apart to break the hatching cycle. One pass won't do it for any pest.

Will it burn my plants?

About 99% of varieties handle aerosol strength fine. Sensitive varieties, young seedlings, and wilted/stressed plants can show mild leaf burn. Always test a single leaf first, spray lights-off, and keep seedlings to light misting only. If burn shows, switch to the ZT concentrate and dilute down for younger plants.

Is it safe for pets, fish, and beneficial insects?

Yes — that's one of its main advantages over pyrethrum, which is toxic to fish and reptiles. Keep pets out while you spray, let everything dry, and release beneficial predators 3–4 days after your last application to avoid affecting them.

How does it compare to Neem oil?

ZT leaves no residue because the oils fully evaporate — Neem leaves an oily film you can taste at harvest if you spray too late in flower. ZT smells like a spice rack, Neem smells like sulphur. Both work; ZT is the cleaner finish.

Can I use the aerosol on fungus gnats in my media?

Yes — spray directly onto the top of your coco, soil, or rockwool to kill adults and deter egg-laying. Light application every day for 5–7 days after watering is the pattern. No drenching needed — a surface mist does the job.

How long does a 699ml can last?

Depends on your room size, but as a rough guide: one 699ml can covers a 1.2m x 1.2m tent for a full 3-application treatment cycle with coverage to spare. Bigger rooms or repeat preventative use — stock two cans.

Does it ship to Tasmania and regional Australia?

Yes — ships Australia-wide. Free shipping over $499*. Aerosol cans are classed as a dangerous good for air freight, so remote/WA/NT delivery may take a couple of extra days via road freight. If in doubt, shoot us a message and we'll confirm your postcode.
