Collapsed, the silicone bowl wraps around the scale body and a hard latching lid clips over the top, turning the whole unit into its own protective transport case. What's in the Box
- The silicone bowl is the carry case. Collapse it down over the scale and clip the latching cover on for transport — no separate case to lose.
- A calibration weight is not included. Factory calibration is accurate out of the box; you'll need a check weight separately for ongoing recalibration.
- Stable, level, draught-free surface still applies — even a roomy bowl can't fix a wobbly bench at 0.01 g resolution.
- The silicone is platinum-cured and food-grade. Wash with warm soapy water; no soaking, no harsh solvents.
- Don't exceed 200 g. The bowl is generous, but the load cell has a hard cap.

What makes the silicone bowl better than a regular weighing tray?
The collapsible bowl serves three jobs in one: it's the weighing vessel (600 ml expanded), the protective case for the scale when collapsed, and a contained surface for powders, granules, and small samples. A flat tray can do the first job. The SBS-200 design does all three.
Is the silicone food-grade?
Yes. On Balance specifies platinum-cured silicone — the same food-grade spec used in baking, lab, and medical applications. Safe for direct contact with anything you'd put in a kitchen utensil. Wash with warm soapy water; skip the harsh solvents.
Can I weigh sticky concentrates and resins in the bowl?
Yes. Platinum-cured silicone is non-stick, so concentrates and resins lift cleanly and the bowl washes up easily. For very sticky material, the bowl is more forgiving than a stainless tray because nothing's adhering to the scale platform itself.
Does it come with a calibration weight?
No. The SBS-200 ships with the scale, silicone bowl, latching cover, and batteries only. Factory calibration is accurate out of the box. For ongoing recalibration, grab a check weight separately.
How does the SBS-200 compare to the other On Balance scales?
All four scales in the range share the same 0.01 g resolution. The Mini MZ is the basic 100 g pocket scale. The NV-500 jumps capacity to 500 g but uses standard trays. The 710-Pro is bundled as a full concentrate-handling kit. The SBS-200 sits in the middle on capacity (200 g) and stands alone on case design — the most travel-friendly of the lot.
What does the warranty cover?
The On Balance 3-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects and load-cell failures under normal use. It doesn't cover overload damage, dropped scales, water damage, or general wear on the silicone bowl or cover.
