The Osram 1000W HPS Lamp brings over 100 years of German lighting engineering to your grow room. Built around a durable ceramic arc tube and an advanced ignition system, this single-ended high pressure sodium bulb delivers a tuned horticultural spectrum that drives strong vegetative growth and serious flowering performance. Photon flux holds above 90% even after 12,000 hours of use — long lamp life, steady output, no surprises.

90%+ Output at 12,000 Hours Photon flux holds above 90% deep into lamp life — your last cycle performs like your first.
Ceramic Arc Tube Durable construction stands up to repeated thermal cycling and high operating temperatures.
Advanced Ignition System Reliable starts cycle after cycle — protects ballast life and keeps your grow uptime predictable.
Optimised Plant Spectrum Tuned gas fill produces the red-orange wavelengths plants actually use during bloom.

Heads Up — Lamp Care Basics
  • 1000W lamps put out serious heat — make sure your extraction is properly sized before firing one up.
  • Never restart a hot lamp. Wait at least 10 minutes after power-off before re-igniting, or you'll cook the bulb early.
  • Always handle with clean gloves or a soft cloth. Skin oils on the quartz cause hot spots and shorten lamp life.
  • This is a single-ended (SE) lamp with an E40 mogul base — not interchangeable with double-ended (DE) reflectors.
  • Confirm your ballast is rated for 1000W HPS. Wrong wattage will either underdrive or destroy the lamp.

How To Use

1
Confirm your ballast is a 1000W HPS unit and your reflector has an E40 mogul socket.
2
Power down everything and let any previous lamp cool fully before swapping. Use a clean cloth or gloves when handling the new bulb.
3
Screw the lamp into your reflector socket — finger-tight only, no force needed.
4
Hang the reflector at a sensible height above your canopy and double-check airflow — 1000W HPS runs hot.
5
Power up — full output takes around 15 minutes to settle in. Watch your canopy temps and adjust hang height as needed.
6
Track lamp hours and plan replacement around the 12,000-hour mark. Output stays above 90% to that point — past it, expect gradual decline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this lamp work on a magnetic ballast?

Yes. Single-ended Osram HPS lamps are designed to run on both magnetic and digital electronic 1000W ballasts. Make sure the ballast wattage matches the lamp.

Is this single-ended or double-ended?

Single-ended (SE) with an E40 mogul base. It fits any standard SE reflector — not for double-ended (DE) fixtures with K12x30s sockets.

Can I use this for veg as well as flower?

Yes. HPS skews red-orange and is built primarily for flowering, but it'll get the job done in late veg and right through bloom. For early veg, most growers prefer a Metal Halide spectrum to keep nodal spacing tight, then swap to HPS for flower.

How long does this lamp last?

Photon flux stays above 90% past 12,000 hours of operation. Most growers replace 1000W HPS lamps after 12 to 18 months of cycle use. Watch your canopy — softer growth and looser flower density are signs the lamp is finally fading.

What size space does a 1000W HPS cover?

A 1000W SE HPS typically covers a 1.5m x 1.5m flowering footprint comfortably. Push out to 1.8m x 1.8m for veg or supplemental lighting. Smaller spaces will need more height to keep the lamp off the canopy.

Why pay more for an Osram lamp?

Osram has been making lighting for over a century, and their horticulture lamps are engineered to tighter tolerances than budget alternatives. You get more consistent spectrum, better lumen maintenance over the lamp's life, and reliable ignition cycle after cycle. For a serious flowering room where lamp failure costs you a crop, the premium pays for itself.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship across Australia from our Tasmanian base. Free shipping kicks in over $499*. HID lamps are packed carefully to handle transit, but if anything arrives damaged, give us a yell and we'll sort it.

100 Years of Lighting. One Serious Bloom Lamp.

Osram-grade reliability for growers who can't afford a lamp failure mid-cycle.
