The Pro Grow 1000W DE Metal Halide Lamp delivers 4200K daylight spectrum across a balanced full-cycle output — a single lamp built to handle veg, flower, and finish on the same fixture. Pulse-start technology, an extruded ceramic arc tube, and low-iron quartz glass mean serious optical quality for serious grow rooms. Designed to run on 240V or 400V digital ballasts and engineered for the medical-grade and connoisseur grower.

4K Daylight Spectrum 4200K colour temperature mimics mid-morning to late-afternoon sun — full spectrum for all growth stages.
Pulse Start Technology Up to 50% longer lamp life, faster cold starts, and 33% better lumen maintenance vs probe-start MH.
240V & 400V Compatible Runs on quality digital ballasts up to 100,000 Hz — Gavita, Hi-Par, Lumatek, and most pro-grade fixtures.
Premium Optical Build Extruded ceramic arc tube and low-iron quartz glass deliver the clearest, most consistent output.

Heads Up — DE Lamp Care Basics
  • This is a Double-Ended (DE) lamp — fits K12x30s sockets only. Not compatible with single-ended (SE) E40 reflectors.
  • Requires a digital electronic ballast — magnetic ballasts won't fire a DE MH lamp correctly.
  • DE lamps run hotter than SE — make sure your extraction is properly sized before firing one up.
  • Hot restrike takes 12 minutes. Don't try to re-ignite a hot lamp before then or you'll cook the bulb early.
  • Always handle with clean gloves or a soft cloth. Skin oils on the quartz cause hot spots and shorten lamp life.
  • Always operate in an enclosed luminaire that complies with UL 1598 — never run an MH lamp in an open fixture.

How To Use

1
Confirm your reflector is rated for 1000W DE lamps and uses K12x30s double-ended sockets. SE reflectors won't work.
2
Make sure your ballast is a digital 1000W unit rated for either 240V or 400V operation. Magnetic ballasts won't run this lamp.
3
Power down everything, let any previous lamp cool fully, and use clean gloves or a cloth when fitting the new bulb.
4
Slot the lamp into both DE sockets — make sure both ends are fully seated. Don't force it.
5
Hang the reflector at the right canopy distance and check your extraction is dialled in — 1000W DE puts out serious heat.
6
Power up — full output takes a few minutes to settle in. Watch canopy temps and adjust hang height as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this lamp run on a magnetic ballast?

No. DE MH lamps require a high-frequency digital electronic ballast. Magnetic ballasts cycle too slow and won't fire a DE bulb correctly. If you're on a magnetic setup, look at single-ended (SE) lamps instead.

Is this a 240V or 400V lamp?

Both. The lamp is engineered for use with quality digital ballasts rated up to 100,000 Hz — covering both 240V and 400V systems. Just match the lamp wattage to your ballast wattage.

What does the 4K spectrum mean for my plants?

4200K is a balanced daylight spectrum — closer to mid-morning and late-afternoon natural light. It contains stronger blue and UV wavelengths than HPS lamps, which drives stem thickness, terpene production, and essential oil development. Pro Grow rates this lamp 75/100 for yield and 85/100 for medicinal-grade output.

Can I use this lamp for both veg and flower?

Yes. The 4K daylight spectrum is balanced enough to run as a single lamp through all stages — veg, flower, and finish. Many growers use it as their primary bloom lamp for medical-grade output where terpene and essential oil profile matters more than raw yield.

What's the difference between this and a 10K finisher lamp?

The 4K Daylight is a balanced full-cycle lamp suitable for the entire crop. A 10K Finisher pushes much harder into the UV range and is typically used only in the last 2–3 weeks of bloom to drive terpene and resin production. If you're running a single lamp through the full cycle, 4K is the right choice.

Why does it take 12 minutes to restart?

That's the hot restrike time. After power-off, the arc tube needs to cool fully before it can re-ignite — trying to restart sooner damages the lamp and can shorten its life. Plan for a 12-minute window if you've had a power interruption.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes. Pro Grow backs every lamp with a one-year manufacturer warranty against defects. Keep your packaging and proof of purchase in case you need to make a claim.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship across Australia from our Tasmanian base. Free shipping kicks in over $499*. DE lamps are packed carefully to handle transit, but if anything arrives damaged, give us a yell and we'll sort it.
