Photoperiod Safety — Light Leak Matters

Photoperiod-sensitive crops need an uninterrupted dark cycle. Even a few minutes of stray light during lights-off can trigger hermaphroditism, revegetation, or stress responses.
Run the fixture on a dedicated digital timer — never rely on manual switching. Verify the timer's lights-off window before flipping to flower.
Check your tent or room for light leaks at night with all room lights off. Cover any visible LED status lights on controllers, fans, or extension boards with electrical tape.
If you share a circuit with other indoor lighting, make sure spillover from adjacent rooms can't reach the canopy through tent zips, vents, or duct ports.

How to Set It Up

Hang it level. Use rope ratchets rated for at least 10kg. Centre the panel over your 1.2 x 1.2m footprint and check it's level — uneven mounting throws off canopy uniformity.

Set hanging height. Start at 50–60cm above the canopy for seedlings and clones, 35–45cm for veg, and 25–35cm for flower. A PAR/PPFD meter takes the guesswork out — aim for 200–400 µmol in veg, 600–900 µmol in flower.

Dial in the dimmer. Run the 5-step dimmer at 20–40% for clones and early veg, 60–80% through late veg, and 100% in flower if your environment can handle the heat load and intensity.

Plug into a timer. Use a digital timer for 18/6 in veg and 12/12 in flower. A controller with 0–10V output lets you ramp intensity gradually at sunrise and sunset.

Check for light leaks. With the fixture off and the room lit, then with everything off mid-dark cycle, walk around the tent and seal any pinholes at zips, vents, or duct ports. Photoperiod-sensitive crops do not forgive light leaks.

Match your environment. Pair with adequate exhaust airflow (a 1.2 x 1.2m tent typically needs a 150–200mm inline fan with carbon filter) and keep temps in the 22–28°C range under full intensity.

What footprint does the ULight ECO 600W cover?

A 1.2 x 1.2m flower footprint at correct hanging height. For veg you can stretch coverage slightly wider thanks to the 180° beam angle, but flower density is best inside the 1.2m square.

Can I run it through both veg and flower?

Yes. The 3900K full-spectrum output is designed to carry plants from seedling through to harvest. Drop the dimmer to 20–40% in early veg and run at 100% in flower if your environment can handle the heat load.

Is it safe to use in a humid grow tent?

Yes. The IP65 rating means it's protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. Fine for high-humidity flower rooms and the occasional foliar spray — just don't aim a hose at it.

Does light leak from this fixture affect photoperiod-sensitive plants?

Yes — any spillover during the dark cycle can disrupt photoperiod-sensitive crops. Always run the fixture on a digital timer, check the tent for leaks during lights-off, and tape over any LED indicator lights inside the tent. Even small amounts of stray light during dark hours can trigger hermaphroditism or revegetation.

Can I integrate it with a 0–10V environment controller?
