The VSeed S40 by VIVOSUN is an all-in-one propagator that takes those jobs off your hands. It runs a 30W full-spectrum LED, automated ebb & flow watering, 40W root-zone heating and an intake and exhaust fan pair, all reading off sensors for dome temperature, humidity and root temperature. Three presets cover germination, rooting and seedlings, and you can run it from the onboard screen or the VIVOSUN app. It suits home growers starting seeds or taking cuttings who want consistent results without babysitting a tray. Know the limits before you buy: it holds 40 cells with 17 cm of grow height, so it is built for starts and cuttings, not for big mothers or full flats of seedlings.

Grower's Tip
- Cuttings and light: plenty of growers root cuttings under 24 hours of light. It is plant-specific, though, and some varieties root better with a few hours of dark. The Rooting preset ships at 18 hours on, 6 off, and light duration is adjustable in the stage settings, so set it for what you are rooting.
- Keep it out of your flowering space. The LED and the LCD both give off light. Run the VSeed in a separate room or your veg area, never inside a tent or room on a dark cycle. Turn the screen brightness down in the system settings if it sits anywhere light matters.
- Check the water before a Quick Irrigation. Automated watering waits for the heated water to cool to a safe temperature. A manual Quick Irrigation (long-press Down) runs straight away without that check, so feel the water first.
- Start weak. VIVOSUN's own guide fills the tank with a light nutrient solution at pH 5.5–6.0 and EC 0.6–0.8 (300–400 ppm) from germination on. Test through the port in the water fill cover without lifting the dome.
- Give it room to breathe. Keep at least 10 cm clear around the vents, and sit it on a flat, water-resistant surface, not carpet or good timber.
- Clean between rounds. The trays are reusable. Wash them and wipe out the reservoir after each cycle, but never submerge the base or hose down the lid. The electronics are not waterproof.
- A cold Tassie shed is the real test. The heater is rated to lift roots about 10°C above a 15°C room. In a space colder than that, expect it to fall short of a 25°C target, so put it somewhere a bit warmer in winter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the Australian 240V model?
Yes. We sell the VSS-VSS40-AU, which comes with a 240V power adapter and an Australian plug. The unit itself runs on 12V from that adapter.
Can I root cuttings in the VSeed S40?
Yes. VIVOSUN built it for both seeds and cuttings, with a dedicated Rooting stage and 17 cm of grow height under the light. Trim longer cuttings to fit, and set the light duration for the plants you are rooting.
Do I need a separate heat mat?
No. The VSeed has 40W root-zone heating built in, which holds a root temperature you set between 20°C and 32°C. VIVOSUN rates it to lift roots up to 10°C above a 15°C room, so in a colder space it may not reach a high target.
How often do I need to refill the tank?
About every two weeks. VIVOSUN says a full 4 L tank keeps plants watered for roughly that long, and a low-water alert shows on the screen and in the app when it needs topping up.
Does it work without Wi-Fi or the app?
Yes. The onboard buttons and LCD run every stage and setting. The app adds remote monitoring, alerts and scheduling from your phone. It connects on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
Can I run it inside my flowering tent?
No. The grow light and the screen both give off light, and the clear dome lets it out. Inside a tent or room on a dark cycle, that light leak can upset photoperiod-sensitive plants. Keep it in a separate space.
Can I change the preset settings?
Yes. For each stage you can change the target root temperature, the dome humidity trigger, light intensity, light duration and the daily light-on time, either on the unit or in the app.
Can I check pH and EC without opening the dome?
Yes. The water fill cover lifts out to leave a 2.7 x 3.3 cm port, which fits most pen meters, so you can test the tank with the dome still on.
What warranty does it have?
VIVOSUN covers the VSeed S40 with a 2-year limited warranty from the date of purchase. That sits on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
