The Lumatek Digital Panel PLUS 2.0 is a dual-signal lighting controller that runs both HID ballasts and LED drivers from a single unit. Two independent zones, 400 HID ballasts or 100 LED drivers total, 1% dimming precision, temperature safety automation, and Sunrise/Sunset simulation — all from a box the size of a paperback. If you are running any Lumatek controllable fixture and still using a basic timer, this is the upgrade that actually matters.

Dual Signal — HID + LED RS485 digital for HID, 0-10V analogue for LED. Run both simultaneously from two independent zones on one controller.
Temperature Safety Automation Included temp sensors trigger automatic dimming or switch-off if your room hits preset thresholds. Fixtures protect themselves.
1% Dimming Precision Dial in exact light intensity across the full 10%–115% power range. Automate PPFD targets by growth stage without touching the fixtures.
Sunrise and Sunset Modes Gradual light transitions up to 30 minutes. Reduces plant stress at light-on and light-off — a genuine agronomic benefit, not a gimmick.

TGG Grower Tips
  • Zone A and Zone B are completely independent. You can run your veg room on Zone A and your flower room on Zone B with different schedules, dimming levels, and wattages — on one controller.
  • Each zone can only control the same type and wattage of ballasts or drivers. If you are mixing wattages, split them across zones accordingly.
  • The temperature sensors are your safety net — install them at canopy level, not high on the wall. Where the plant is, is where the temperature reading matters.
  • Sunrise/Sunset mode does more than reduce stress. A gradual ramp-up gives your fans and environmental controls time to respond before full light load hits the room.
  • The dimming range goes to 115%. This allows you to run Lumatek HID ballasts above their rated wattage on supported models — only do this if your ballast spec sheet explicitly lists it as a supported mode.
  • This controller is Lumatek-ecosystem specific. It will not reliably control non-Lumatek fixtures via RS485. The 0-10V LED channel is more universal — check your LED driver's compatibility before assuming it will work.

How the Two-Zone System Works

Zone A and Zone B each operate on their own signal, schedule, and dimming program — they do not talk to each other. Each zone can control up to 200 HID ballasts via RS485 or up to 50 LED drivers via 0-10V, giving you up to 400 HID or 100 LED devices from one controller. You can use the two zones to manage two separate rooms on different light cycles, or run them in the same room with two different fixture types — for example, Zone A managing LED bars at 600W and Zone B handling HID ballasts at 315W. The one rule is that each zone must only control identical-wattage devices. Mix wattages and the RS485 daisy chain breaks down. Keep it clean: same wattage per zone, different wattages split across zones.

Setting Up Your Digital Panel PLUS 2.0

1
Mount the controller on a wall or vertical surface outside your grow space, in a position where you can read the display and reach it without entering the room. The included power adaptor runs on 100–240V AC — plug it into a standard Australian outlet.
2
Run the control link cables from the controller to your fixtures. For HID, use the HID control link cables (5m included) in a daisy-chain from Zone A or Zone B to your ballasts in sequence. For LED, connect the LED control link cables to your drivers via the 0-10V port. Additional daisy-chain cables are available separately if your room requires longer runs.
3
Install the temperature sensors (two included, 5m cables each). Position one sensor per zone at canopy height — this is the temperature that matters for your plants and for the safety dimming to respond correctly. Secure the sensor cable so it does not contact hot fixture surfaces or get waterlogged.
4
Program your light schedule through the controller menu. Set your on/off times for each zone independently. Configure your Sunrise and Sunset duration (0–30 minutes), set your target dimming level for each growth stage, and configure temperature thresholds for safety dimming and switch-off.
5
Test each zone before leaving the system to run unattended. Manually trigger a dim-up and dim-down through the controller menu, confirm the correct fixtures respond, and verify the temperature sensor readings are within expected range. Check that both zones respond independently if running dual rooms.
6
Set your safety thresholds and walk away. The controller monitors temperature continuously and will automatically dim or kill power to your fixtures if your room overheats. This is not a feature you set once and forget — revisit it at the start of each season when ambient temperatures change significantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I control both HID and LED lights at the same time?

Yes — that is the entire point of the dual-signal design. Put your HID ballasts on one zone using the RS485 digital signal and your LED drivers on the other zone using the 0-10V analogue signal. Each zone runs its own independent schedule and dimming program. You cannot mix HID and LED on the same zone.

Will it work with non-Lumatek fixtures?

For HID via RS485, no — this protocol is proprietary to Lumatek and the Digital Panel PLUS 2.0 will not reliably control other brands via that channel. For LED via 0-10V, it is more likely to work with non-Lumatek drivers that accept a standard 0-10V dimming signal, but Lumatek does not guarantee compatibility outside their own range. Test before relying on it in a production environment.

How many fixtures can one controller run?

Up to 400 HID ballasts total (200 per zone via RS485), or up to 100 LED drivers total (50 per zone via 0-10V). You can mix both types across the two zones — for example, 200 HID on Zone A and 50 LED on Zone B simultaneously. These are the maximum limits per the manufacturer spec.

Can I run two different wattages of ballast on the same controller?

Yes — but not on the same zone. Each zone must control identical-wattage devices only. If you need to run 600W and 315W HID ballasts in the same room, put the 600W ballasts on Zone A and the 315W ballasts on Zone B. The two zones can then run independently with different power levels and schedules.

What does the temperature safety system actually do?

Two things, at two different temperature thresholds. Between 0°C and 40°C, if your room temperature rises the controller automatically dims the lights down to reduce heat load. If the temperature hits your configured switching threshold (between 10°C and 50°C), the controller shuts the lights off completely. Both thresholds are configurable. The fixtures come back on once the temperature drops back within range. This protects your crop and your gear when your cooling fails or your room heats up unexpectedly.

Do I need additional cables beyond what is included?

Possibly — it depends on your room size and fixture count. The box includes two HID control link cables (5m each) and two LED control link cables, which is enough to get a standard small room connected. For larger rooms with many fixtures in a daisy-chain, you will need additional Lumatek daisy-chain cables, sold separately. Measure your runs before ordering to avoid running short.

Is Sunrise/Sunset mode just a gimmick?

No — there is genuine agronomic reason to use it. Abrupt light-on events create a sharp thermal and photosynthetic shock to plants, particularly at high light intensities. A gradual ramp from 0% to full power over 15–30 minutes mirrors natural dawn conditions and is associated with reduced plant stress and more consistent stomatal behaviour. It also gives your environmental controls — fans, AC, CO2 — time to respond to rising light load before the room is at full intensity.
