A plant grown for its flowers wants a different balance from one grown for its leaves: less push on foliage, more potassium to set and hold blooms. Flower Focus is Growth Technology's complete liquid nutrient for flowering plants, made in Australia, with potassium at 3.0% w/v against 1.8% nitrate-nitrogen, all 12 essential minerals, no urea, chlorides or sodium, and pH buffering for tap water. It suits hoyas, geraniums, fuchsias, hibiscus, flowering annuals and perennials in pots or beds, and anything in semi-hydro that you are trying to coax into bloom. It is not an orchid feed; Growth Technology makes Orchid Focus for that. Available in 250ml, 1L, 5L and 20L.

Not for orchids. Flower Focus is balanced for general flowering plants. Orchids have their own range: Orchid Focus for one bottle all year, or Orchid Focus Bloom for plants in spike.
Potassium-led for floweringPotassium 3.0% w/v with nitrogen eased back to 1.8%. That is the balance Growth Technology set to encourage abundant, vibrant flower formation.
Complete, not a bloom tonicAll 12 essential minerals, including calcium, magnesium and six chelated trace elements. The plant keeps its leaves and roots healthy while it flowers.
No urea, chlorides or sodiumNitrogen as nitrate, nothing to break down, nothing building up in the pot. It works as well in semi-hydro as in potting mix.
Pots, beds and hydroFormulated for soil and hydroponics. Hanging baskets, patio pots, garden beds and LECA all run off the same bottle at 3–7ml per litre.
pH buffered for tap waterMix at the label rate and the solution sits in range with most Australian tap water. No pH pen.
Feed at every wateringDesigned for little and often rather than a monthly hit, which is how flowering plants hold a display rather than flush and fade.

Grower's Tip

  • Switch to Flower Focus as buds start to form, not after the first flower opens. The display is being built in the weeks before it shows.
  • Keep the rate steady through flowering. Pushing more nutrient at a plant in bloom tends to shorten the display, not extend it.
  • Deadhead as you go. A plant that is setting seed stops making flowers no matter what you feed it.
  • Water to runoff and flush monthly. Hanging baskets and small pots dry fast and concentrate salts faster than anything in the ground.
  • For a hoya, use the hydro rate in LECA and the soil rate in bark mix, and leave the peduncles alone: the next flush comes from the same spur.
  • Mix fresh each fortnight and store the concentrate cool and dark.

How To Use It

1Shake the bottle. Measure 5–7ml per litre of water for hydro and semi-hydro, or 3–5ml per litre for soil and potting mix. Start at the low end and work up as the plant matures.
2Add the concentrate to the water and mix. Tap water is fine for most households and no pH adjustment is needed.
3Water until it runs from the drainage holes, or refill the semi-hydro reservoir to its usual level.
4Repeat at every watering. Little and often beats a big monthly dose.
5Between flowering flushes, keep feeding at the low end of the range so the plant has reserves for the next round.
6Once a month, water with plain water only to flush mineral salts from the pot. Mix fresh solution at least every fortnight.

Frequently Asked Questions

What plants is Flower Focus for?

Flowering plants generally: hoyas, geraniums, fuchsias, hibiscus, flowering annuals and perennials, in pots, beds or semi-hydro. Growth Technology formulated it for a broad range of flowering plants rather than one species.

Can I use Flower Focus on orchids?

No, not as the main feed. Orchids have their own Growth Technology range: Orchid Focus for a single year-round bottle, or Orchid Focus Grow and Bloom as a two-bottle system.

Does it contain urea?

No. Flower Focus is free from urea, chlorides and sodium. Nitrogen is supplied as nitrate.

When should I start using it?

As buds begin to form. Keep using it at every watering through flowering, then stay at the low end of the range between flushes.

Do I need to adjust the pH?

No, not with most tap water. It is pH buffered.

How much do I use?

3–5ml per litre of water in soil and potting mix, 5–7ml per litre in hydro and semi-hydro, at every watering. Flush with plain water once a month.

What is the NPK?

Growth Technology publishes a full analysis rather than a ratio: nitrate-nitrogen 1.8%, phosphorus 0.5% and potassium 3.0% w/v, plus calcium, magnesium, sulfur and six chelated trace elements. The full table is in Specifications.

Will it make a plant flower that is not flowering?

No fertiliser can do that on its own. Light, temperature, day length and the plant's maturity decide whether it flowers. Flower Focus supplies the balance the plant needs once it is ready to.

How long does a mixed solution last?

About 1–2 weeks. After that, replace it.

Welcome to The Grow Guys

We built The Grow Guys from the soil up — well, coco and perlite. Before we sold gear, we bought it, ran it, and learned the hard way what's worth the money and what ends up in the shed. That's the filter everything on our shelves passes through. No sales scripts, no rebadged junk, no telling you what you want to hear. Just gear we'd run ourselves and advice from people who actually grow. Chasing higher yields, tighter flowers, or your first harvest? You're in the right place.
