Fill the reservoir, and high-absorption wick lines draw water up into the pot as the medium dries, keeping roots evenly moist between top-ups. Does this work with any brand of fabric pot?
Yes — it's designed for round pots made of nonwoven, permeable fabric, which covers most fabric pots on the market regardless of brand. It won't work with plastic pots or sealed-base containers, since water needs to soak through the pot base from the wicks.
How often do I need to refill the reservoir?
It depends on plant size, temperature and stage — a small veg plant might go the better part of a week on a full reservoir, while a large plant in flower can empty it much faster. The water gauge takes the guesswork out: check it daily for the first week and you'll quickly learn your plants' pace.
Can I put nutrient solution in the reservoir?
Yes. The reservoir stores runoff water and nutrients by design, and you can fill it with mixed nutrient solution. Rinse the tray and wicks between grows to clear salt residue, and give the system an occasional flush with plain water if you're feeding heavily.
Which size do I need?
Standard suits round fabric pots up to 5 gallons (around 20L) with a 3.78L reservoir. XL suits pots up to 10 gallons (around 42L) with an 8.5L reservoir. If your pots sit in between, size up — a bigger tray under a smaller pot works fine, but not the reverse.
Can I use these outdoors?
Yes. They work anywhere you'd normally put a saucer under a pot — grow tents, grow rooms, greenhouses, balconies and outdoor gardens. Outdoors, keep in mind rain will also collect in the tray, so check levels after wet weather.
Will my pot be sitting in water?
No. The reservoir plate elevates the pot above the water line, so only the wick lines touch the reservoir. Water reaches the roots at the rate the medium draws it up, which is what keeps the moisture even instead of soggy.
