The Bluelab Probe Care Kit – pH is the complete maintenance routine for any Bluelab pH pen or probe in one box: cleaner and brush to strip the built-up residue that makes readings drift, pH 7.0 and 4.0 sachets for the 2-point calibration that brings accuracy back, and KCl storage solution to keep the glass tip alive between uses. The instrument is only as accurate as the probe is clean — this kit is how you keep it that way.

Clean, Calibrate, Store — One KitEvery consumable and tool the monthly pH probe routine needs, with Bluelab's care instructions included.
Fixes Drifting ReadingsResidue build-up slows probes down and pulls readings off true. Cleaning plus a fresh 2-point calibration restores accuracy.
Works Across All Bluelab pH GearThe same clean-and-calibrate process applies to every Bluelab pH pen and probe — one kit covers whatever you run.
Cheaper Than a New ProbepH probes are consumable glass — regular care is what stretches their life. A kit costs a fraction of the replacement it delays.

Grow Guys Tip — Get the Details Right
  • Sachets are single-use. Tip them into a clean cup, calibrate, and discard — never pour used solution back or dip the probe straight into the sachet you'll reuse. Contaminated calibration solution means a false calibration.
  • Rinse the probe tip in clean water between the 7.0 and 4.0 solutions so you don't drag one buffer into the other.
  • Never rinse, soak or store a pH probe in RO, distilled or deionised water — pure water changes the reference chemistry and kills the probe. Tap water for rinsing, KCl for storage, always.

The Monthly Routine

1Clean: rinse the probe tip under fresh tap water, then stir it gently in a cup of clean water with a small amount of pH Probe Cleaner. For heavy build-up, brush gently around the glassware with the toothbrush and a few drops of cleaner. Rinse all traces off under running water.
2Calibrate — always 2 points, always pH 7.0 first: tip a fresh 7.0 sachet into a clean cup, calibrate, rinse the tip, then calibrate in fresh pH 4.0. Calibration is required after every clean; a single-point calibration won't hold.
3Store: keep the probe tip covered with KCl storage solution in its storage cap. If a probe has been allowed to dry out, soak the tip in KCl for at least 24 hours, then clean and recalibrate.
4Repeat monthly, and any time readings look wrong, after battery changes, or when your meter's calibration reminder appears. Follow your specific pen or probe's manual where details differ — it's the final word.

Pairs Well With

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this kit work with the pH PenPlus, pH Pen and pH Probe?

Yes. The clean, calibrate and store process is the same across all Bluelab pH pens and probes — this kit covers any of them. Always follow your specific product's manual where the storage details differ.

Does it include EC/conductivity solutions?

No. This is the pH-only kit — no 2.77 EC standard and no conductivity probe cleaner. If you run an EC pen as well, Bluelab makes a combined pH and Conductivity care kit that covers both.

How often should I use it?

Monthly is the standard cadence — clean, then recalibrate. Also run the routine whenever readings drift or look wrong, after changing batteries, and whenever your meter's calibration reminder appears.

Are the sachets reusable?

No. All sachets are single-use — pour into a clean cup, use, and discard. Reusing calibration solution contaminates it, and a probe calibrated in contaminated solution reads wrong from that point on.

Will cleaning fix a probe that reads the same in every solution?

No. A probe showing the same reading in every buffer has broken glassware and needs replacing — no amount of cleaning recovers it. Cleaning and recalibration fix drift and slow response, not physical damage.
