Pairs well with
Rusty spots, curled tips and pale new growth are the classic signs of plants running short of calcium and magnesium, and coco, soft rainwater and strong LED lighting all make it more likely. Cal by Bloom, sold in the US as Cal-Mag, tops both up: calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate with chelated iron and zinc, at 1ml per litre in every feed. A litre makes 1,000 litres. It carries nitrogen (6.8-0-0), so it adds to your feed's N, and it's a supplement for a gap in your water or medium, not a fix for spotting caused by pH, overwatering or root problems.

Grower's Tip
- Running coco or rainwater? Put Cal in from the first feed rather than waiting for spots to show.
- Check your pH before you blame calcium. Lockout from pH drift looks a lot like a deficiency.
- Cal carries nitrogen, so factor it in late in flower if your feed is already heavy on N.
- Add it after your base nutrients and stir it through, then check EC and adjust pH last.
- Running Silica? Silica still goes in first, on its own, before anything else.
- Shake well before use. Colour and consistency vary a little between batches, which is normal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bloom Cal a cal-mag?
Yes. It's a calcium and magnesium supplement, sold in the US as Bloom Cal-Mag.
Do I need Cal in coco?
Yes, usually. Coco holds onto calcium and magnesium, so most coco growers run a cal-mag every feed.
How much do I use?
1ml per litre, every feed.
Does Cal contain nitrogen?
Yes. It's made from calcium and magnesium nitrate, so it reads 6.8-0-0 and adds to your feed's nitrogen.
Will Cal fix brown spots on my leaves?
It will if they come from a calcium or magnesium shortage. Check your pH and watering first, because lockout and root problems look similar.
Do I need to cut back my base nutrients?
No. Bloom designs its additives to run alongside your base feed at its normal rate, so you add Cal on top rather than in place of anything.
How long does a bottle last?
A litre makes 1,000 litres of feed at 1ml per litre. The 300ml makes 300 litres.
Is it organic?
No. It's a mineral supplement, and Bloom's range is not certified organic.
