Cold nights are where grows go wrong — growth stalls, roots sulk, and the condensation that follows invites mould in. The Cultiv8 Tube Heater is a sealed radiant heat bar that holds your grow area in the goldilocks zone with gentle, silent background warmth. Six sizes run from a 30cm 60W bar for a propagation cabinet up to a 150cm 300W bar for a 7m³ room, and every one mounts to the floor on its included feet or straight onto a wall — no fan, no noise, no floor space sacrificed.

Grower's Tip
- Mount the bar low along the coldest wall of the space. Radiant heat rises through the canopy from below — a bar mounted high just warms the ceiling.
- Set your thermostat probe at canopy height, not next to the tube. You're controlling the temperature your plants feel, not the air 30mm from a 90°C surface.
- Add a small circulation fan. It evens out the warm layer that forms above the bar and stops a toasty ceiling sitting over a cold floor.
- Skip the timer. A tube heater on a timer heats by the clock, not the temperature — a thermostat costs about the same to run, holds an actual set point, and switches the bar only when it's needed.
How To Mount And Dial It In
Pairs Well With
The matching controller. Plug the heat bar in, set your minimum, and it only runs when the space actually needs heat.
Heat Mat by Cultiv8Root-zone warmth under the trays while the tube holds the air temperature — the classic propagation pairing.
VIVOSUN AeroFlux 700W Smart HeaterFor spaces that run properly cold — 700W of app-controlled fan-forced heating when background warmth isn't enough.
Cloudforge T3 V2 HumidifierWarm air holds more moisture — keep humidity where your plants want it while the heat bar keeps the chill off.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which wattage do I need?
Match the bar to the volume you're keeping warm: 60W covers up to 2m³, 80W does 2–3m³, 120W does 3–4m³, 180W does 4–5m³, 240W does 5–6m³ and 300W does 6–7m³. A standard 1.2 x 1.2 x 2m tent is about 2.9m³ — an 80W or 120W bar. If you're between sizes and running a thermostat, go up a size; it costs nothing in practice because the controller stops it overshooting.
Does it hold a set temperature on its own?
No — plugged straight into the wall it simply runs. The built-in thermal cut-out is an overheat safety, not a thermostat. Pair it with a plug-in controller like the Cultiv8 Thermostat, set your minimum temperature, and it becomes fully automatic.
Mine gave off a smell on first use — is that normal?
Yes. The heating element is coated with a small amount of lubricant oil during production, and the first run burns it off as a faint vapour for around five minutes. It's expected behaviour, not a fault, and it doesn't come back.
Is it safe inside a humid grow tent?
Yes — the IP55 rating protects it against dust and water splash, which is exactly what a working grow tent throws at it. The limits: it's not built for outdoor use in damp weather, and it must never be submerged. Inside a tent or greenhouse on its mounts, it's in its element.
Can I sit it on the tent floor?
On its feet, yes — that's what they're for. Never lay the tube directly on the floor: the surface reaches 91–96°C in operation and the feet exist to hold that heat 30mm clear of whatever's underneath. Keep the power cord from touching the tube and don't cover the bar with anything.
Tube heater or heat mat — which do I want?
They do different jobs. A heat mat warms the root zone directly under trays and pots; a tube heater lifts the air temperature of the whole space. For propagation in a cold room, the strongest setup is both — a mat under the dome and a tube bar holding the ambient, each on its own controller.
