Flairform pH Down is an organic citric acid solution (500g/L) for lowering nutrient pH in hydro, coco and soil. It solves the long-standing safety and handling problems of regular pH downs — much safer to use than phosphoric or nitric acid, more environmentally friendly, and classified as a non-dangerous good with no special freight, handling or storage requirements. The go-to pH down for organic growers. Available in 250ml and 1L.
Specifications
- If your pH continuously rises — the most common trend — adjust down to about 5.0 at each correction instead of 5.8. That gives you a much larger safety margin before pH drifts too high again.
- Never let pH sit high for long: the precipitate that forms usually won't re-dissolve, and those nutrients are lost to your plants.
- Citric acid is a gentler acid, so you may use a little more than you would with phosphoric-based downs — the trade is far safer handling. Still wear gloves and eye protection; it's a concentrate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pH Down suitable for organic growing?
Yes. Flairform pH Down uses an organic citric acid formulation rather than the phosphoric or nitric acid found in regular pH downs, and it's biodegradable — the standard choice for organic growers who need to lower nutrient pH.
How is it safer than regular pH Down?
Regular pH downs are phosphoric or nitric acid — strong mineral acids with HazMat classification and serious burn risk. Citric acid is much safer to handle and more environmentally friendly, and the product ships as a non-dangerous good with no special freight requirements.
Will I need to use more than a mineral acid pH Down?
Possibly. Citric acid is a gentler acid, so you may use a little more solution than you would with a phosphoric-based product — the trade-off is far safer handling and storage. Dose gradually and re-test as you go.
Does it still need careful handling?
Yes. It's still a concentrated acid (around pH 1.7 in the bottle) and the safety data sheet lists it as an eye and skin irritant, so gloves and eye protection are sensible. Safer than mineral acids, not harmless.
What pH should I adjust my nutrient to?
Most hydro and coco growers run 5.5–6.5. If your pH continuously rises between checks — the most common trend — Flairform recommends adjusting down to about 5.0 at each correction to give yourself a bigger safety margin than, say, 5.8.
