Flairform pH Electrode Storage is a 250ml solution for keeping pH probes hydrated between uses. Dry storage is the most common cause of pH meter failure in hydroponics — the glass electrode and porous frit dry out, readings start to drift, and the probe dies years before its time. Submerse the electrode tip in this solution whenever the meter is not in use and it stays accurate, responsive and working for the long haul.

Prevents Dry-Out FailureKeeps the glass electrode and porous frit hydrated — protection against the number one killer of pH meters in hydro.
Eliminates Reading DriftProperly stored probes hold their calibration — no more chasing numbers that wander between checks.
Maximises Electrode LifepH electrodes last several years when stored properly — a $13 bottle beats replacing a $100+ probe early.
Formulated for StorageA carefully structured formulation that won't interfere with the electrode's internal filling solution — unlike buffers or distilled water.

Specifications

Brand: Flairform

Suits: Standard glass-bulb pH electrodes
Usage: Submerse electrode tip when not in use
Solution pH: 7 (neutral, non-corrosive)
Safety: Non-hazardous, non-dangerous good
Grow Guys Tip — What Never to Store a pH Probe In
  • Never store probes dry — dehydration of the glass and frit is the fastest way to wreck a pH meter.
  • Never store probes in pH buffers or distilled water. Both can upset electrode calibration by interfering with the filling solution inside the probe.
  • Keep the bottle closed and in a cool, dark spot between top-ups to stop contamination.

How to Use

1
Rinse the probe after measuring your nutrient solution.
2
Fill the probe's storage cap or a small container with pH Electrode Storage solution.
3
Submerse the electrode tip in the solution whenever the meter is not in use.
4
Top up or replace the solution when it looks low or dirty — a clean reservoir keeps the probe protected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I store my pH probe in distilled water instead?

No. Flairform is explicit on this: pH buffers and distilled water are not suitable for storing pH electrodes as they can upset electrode calibration. Storage solutions are structured so they don't interfere with the liquid or gel inside the electrode.

Does this work with Bluelab and other brand pH meters?

Yes, it suits standard glass-bulb pH electrodes across brands. One caveat: if your meter's manufacturer specifies its own storage solution in the manual — Bluelab specifies KCl solution for its probes, for example — follow the manual for that meter.

Why did my pH meter stop reading accurately?

Dry storage is the most common cause of pH meter failure in hydroponics. When the glass electrode and porous frit dehydrate, readings drift and response slows. Storing the probe tip in solution prevents it.

Is this solution hazardous to handle?

No. Per the safety data sheet it is non-hazardous, non-corrosive and classified as a non-dangerous good — a neutral pH 7 aqueous solution with no PPE required in normal use.

Can I use this to store EC probes too?

No, it's not needed. This solution is for pH electrodes, which have a glass bulb that must stay hydrated. Conductivity probes don't have one and are generally stored dry and clean — check your EC meter's manual.
