  • Being 100% coco, this holds more water than a blend. If you want faster drainage, cut it with 20-30% perlite, or grab the ready-made Coco 70/30.
  • It's cal-mag buffered, but keeping a light cal-mag additive in the feed is still cheap insurance in coco.
  • Fluff the coco out of the bag before potting to break up any compaction and open up the air pockets.

Is this straight coco, or does it have perlite in it?

This is 100% coco coir with no perlite. If you want a faster-draining medium out of the bag, look at the Coco 70/30 Perlite blend instead.

Do I need to buffer or soak it before planting?

No. It's pre-buffered with cal-mag, washed and pH-balanced, so it's ready to use straight from the bag — just fluff it up first.

Do I still need to run cal-mag?

Yes, it's still worth it. The coco comes cal-mag buffered, but a light cal-mag additive through your feeds is good insurance against deficiencies as the plant draws down.

Can I add my own perlite?

Yes. Cut it with around 20-30% perlite if you want more aeration and faster drainage, or use it straight for a more moisture-retentive medium.

How should I store an open bag?

Keep it cool, dark and above 4°C, and reseal or cover the bag so it doesn't dry out.
