The GL1000W+ driver mounts remotely by design, and at 1000W there is a real payoff to getting it out of the growing environment. This kit gives you 3 metres of clearance between the driver and the fixture frame using three cables — two for the dual power inputs on the GL1000W+ driver, and one for the dimming connection — all without voltage drop or signal loss. It is the same build quality as the GL650W+ kit: IP67 rated, Jnicon M19 connectors, UL-certified. The only difference is the extra power cable the GL1000W+ needs.

3 Metres of Driver Clearance Position the GL1000W+ driver up to 3 metres from the fixture bars — outside the tent, on a wall, or on an equipment rail — without power or signal loss.
Three Cables — All Included Two power extension cables for the GL1000W+'s dual power inputs, plus one dimming extension cable. Everything the driver needs to run remotely.
IP67 Rated All three cables carry IP67 protection — fully sealed against moisture and dust ingress for reliable operation in a working grow room.
No Voltage Drop Rated at 300V/600V and 20A/10A respectively. Designed for the GL1000W+ driver load — the full 1000W supply carries cleanly across 3 metres.
Jnicon M19 Connectors Self-locking Jnicon connectors match the GL1000W+ driver and frame ports exactly. Push in, lock, no tools needed.
2-Year Warranty UL-certified under UL2238 E500203. Backed by Treegers' 2-year accessory warranty.

What's in the Bag

2x Driver Power Extension Cables — 3m Jnicon M19 connectors. Two cables required for the GL1000W+'s dual power input configuration.
1x Driver Dimming Extension Cable — 3m Jnicon M19 connector. Extends the dimming signal from the driver to the fixture without degradation.
GL1000W+ Only — This Kit Is Not Interchangeable With the GL650W+ Kit
  • This kit is designed exclusively for the GL1000W+ fixture. The GL1000W+ driver has two power inputs — this kit includes two power cables to match. The GL650W+ kit only includes one power cable and will not fully supply the GL1000W+ driver.
  • If you are running a GL650W+, there is a separate GL650W+ Driver Extension Kit. Do not mix kits between fixture models.
  • All three cables must be installed together. Running only the power extensions without replacing the dimming cable leaves the signal path limited to the shorter stock cable length.
  • 3 metres is the maximum rated distance for this kit. Chaining two kits is not supported, not rated, and not covered under warranty.
  • The GL420W and GL300W have integrated drivers and do not support remote driver mounting — this kit will not fit those fixtures.

How to Install the GL1000W+ Driver Extension Kit

1
Disconnect from mains power and allow the fixture to cool — Never work on a live or recently operated fixture. Disconnect from power completely and wait for the driver and bars to cool before touching any cables or connections.
2
Disconnect both stock power cables from the driver — The GL1000W+ driver has two power input ports. Locate both stock power cables, twist the locking ring on each Jnicon connector to release, and pull both clear. Set them aside.
3
Connect both power extension cables in their place — Run the two 3-metre power extension cables from the driver's power input ports to their corresponding ports on the fixture frame. Push each Jnicon connector in firmly until it locks. Route cables cleanly without excessive tension or pinch points.
4
Disconnect and replace the dimming cable — Remove the stock dimming cable and connect the 3-metre dimming extension in its place. Run it alongside the power cables to the same remote driver position and lock both ends of the Jnicon connector.
5
Mount the driver at the remote position — Secure the driver using the GL1000W+'s included driver support brackets on a tent wall, equipment rail, or adjacent structure at the desired location within the 3-metre cable run. Ensure there is airflow around the driver casing.
6
Reconnect mains power and verify operation — Power on and confirm the fixture illuminates at full output and responds correctly to your controller or dimmer. If the fixture does not respond to dimming commands, check both ends of the dimming extension cable first. If power output seems reduced, verify both power extension cables are fully locked at each end.

Pairs Well With

Treegers GL1000W+ LED Fixture

This kit exists for this fixture only. Running the GL1000W+ in a space where the driver position matters? This is how you get the placement flexibility you need.

Treegers Growcast Controller

With the driver remotely mounted, the Growcast connects to it directly to automate scheduling and PPFD control without needing to access the grow space.

Treegers Precise T Dimmer

The T Dimmer connects directly to the remotely mounted driver via the LLT port — the extension cables do not affect dimmer compatibility.

Inline and Exhaust Fans

At 1000W, moving the driver heat source outside the tent meaningfully reduces what your extraction system has to shift. Worth doing with proper ventilation.

Grow Tents

Positioning the driver outside your tent keeps internal temperatures lower and makes the driver accessible for inspection without opening the canopy.

Treegers GL650W+ Driver Extension Kit

Running a GL650W+ instead? Its dedicated kit includes one power cable and one dimming cable — not this one. Check the Treegers collection for the correct kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this kit include two power cables when the GL650W+ kit only has one?

The GL1000W+ driver has two power input connections to handle the higher 1000W load — the same reason the GL1000W+ driver is physically larger than the GL650W+ driver. Each power input needs its own extension cable for remote mounting. The GL650W+ driver only has one power input, which is why its kit contains one power cable. Using the GL650W+ kit on a GL1000W+ would leave one power input unextended.

Will this kit work with the GL650W+ fixture?

No — this kit is designed for the GL1000W+ only. While the Jnicon M19 connector type is the same across Treegers GL+ fixtures, the GL1000W+ kit includes two power cables for the dual power input configuration of that specific driver. Using it on a GL650W+ is not supported. The GL650W+ has its own dedicated extension kit.

Do all three cables need to be installed, or can I just use the power cables?

All three cables must be installed together. If you extend the two power connections but leave the original dimming cable in place, the dimming cable becomes the limiting factor on how far the driver can be positioned. For the full 3-metre remote driver setup, all three extensions are required.

Can I chain two kits to get 6 metres of distance?

No — 3 metres is the maximum rated distance for this kit. Chaining two kits is not supported by Treegers, is not covered under warranty, and risks voltage drop on the power cables at the combined length. If your installation genuinely requires more than 3 metres of driver clearance, contact The Grow Guys before purchasing.

Does remote driver mounting affect performance or dimming response?

No — both the power and dimming cables are rated and tested for 3 metres without voltage drop or signal degradation. The GL1000W+ fixture will operate at the same output and dimming response as it would with the stock cable lengths. No recalibration is needed after installation.

Where should I mount the driver once it is remotely positioned?

Use the GL1000W+'s included driver support brackets to mount the driver on a tent wall, equipment rail, or adjacent structure. The driver should have clear airflow around it — do not mount it in an enclosed cabinet or against a surface that blocks all sides. Outside the tent is ideal. Ensure the mounting point is load-rated for the driver weight and that the cable runs are free of tension and pinch points.
