The HVC Inline EC Fan pairs an EC mixed flow motor with a plug-in speed controller — included in the box across all three sizes. EC motors draw less power and run quieter than standard AC inline fans while holding strong airflow under duct and filter load, which makes this the sensible pick for grow tents and rooms where noise and running costs both matter. Available in 100mm, 125mm and 150mm.

EC Mixed Flow Motor Electronically commutated motors run quieter and more efficiently than AC equivalents, holding airflow under static pressure from ducting and filters.
Controller Included A dedicated speed controller ships with every size. Dial airflow up or back from day one — no separate purchase needed.
Three Sizes 100mm for small tents, 125mm for the common home setup, 150mm for mid-sized rooms pushing 594 m³/h.
Smart Upgrade Path Compatible with HVC Smart Controllers for automated temperature and humidity-based speed control when you outgrow the manual dial.

Sizing Guide — Which Fan Do You Need?
  • 100mm — Small tents up to 1.0m x 1.0m or secondary exhaust runs in a larger setup
  • 125mm — Tents up to 1.2m x 1.2m, the most common home grower configuration
  • 150mm — Tents up to 1.5m x 1.5m and mid-sized grow rooms — the best all-rounder in the range
  • When in doubt, size up — a fan running at 70% consistently outperforms one maxed out

Setting Up Your HVC Fan

1
Plan your ducting run — Map the shortest, most direct route from fan to exhaust point before mounting anything. Every 90-degree bend adds the equivalent resistance of 1.5–2m of straight ducting.
2
Mount the fan inline — The fan sits inside your ducting run using the mounting brackets. Secure both connections with ducting clamps to stop slippage and air leaks before powering on.
3
Connect the speed controller — Plug the included controller between the fan and power. Start around 70% speed and adjust based on your temperature, humidity and odour readings.
4
Check for negative pressure — Tent walls should draw slightly inward when the fan is running correctly. If walls bow outward, check for unsealed gaps or increase fan speed until the draw is right.
5
Upgrade to automated control — Pair with an HVC Smart Controller for temperature or humidity-triggered speed adjustments. The thermal probe takes over where the manual dial leaves off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the speed controller come included with every size?

Yes. All three sizes — 100mm, 125mm and 150mm — ship with a dedicated fan speed controller in the box. Nothing extra is needed to start adjusting airflow from the moment you install it.

Can I upgrade to automated temperature and humidity control?

Yes. This fan is compatible with HVC Smart Controllers, which replace the manual dial with automated speed adjustment based on temperature and humidity readings from a thermal probe. The Pro Controller can run up to four HVC EC fans at once.

What is the difference between this fan and the HVC Dura Fan?

The Dura adds an IP68 waterproof rating for environments with constant condensation and 100% humidity, and extends up to 250mm sizes. This standard EC range covers 100mm to 150mm and suits typical grow tents and rooms where full water ingress protection is not required.

Is an EC fan quieter than a standard AC inline fan?

Yes, in general. EC motors run smoother and quieter than comparable AC motors, particularly at reduced speeds through the controller. For further noise reduction, insulated ducting and running the fan below full speed both make a noticeable difference.

How do I calculate the right fan size for my grow room?

Aim for at least one full air exchange per minute. Multiply your room's length x width x height in metres to get your volume in m³ — that figure is the minimum airflow rating you need at full fan speed. Then account for duct bends and a carbon filter reducing effective output by 20–30%, and size up if you are close to the limit. A fan running at 70% capacity is quieter, more efficient, and lasts longer than one running flat out.
