Pairs well with
If you've used a PAR meter in a larger grow room, you already know the problem — reaching the centre of the canopy cleanly, holding the sensor at exactly canopy height, and doing it without stepping over plants or disturbing anything. The Treegers PAR Meter Extendable Wand solves that. It telescopes from 25cm to 75.5cm, threads onto the sensor's standard 1/4" screw mount, and lets you position the sensor precisely where you need it without reaching in yourself. Small product, specific job, does it well.

What's in the Box
- The wand is most useful in rooms and tents wider than 1.2m where reaching the centre cleanly from the edge is otherwise awkward without disturbing the canopy.
- Extend the wand to canopy height, lower the sensor to the leaf level at each measurement point, and save the reading before moving to the next position. Consistent height matters more than speed.
- Take readings at a minimum of five points — four corners and centre. For rooms larger than 1.5m x 1.5m, a 9-point grid (3x3) gives a much more accurate uniformity picture.
- The gimbal at the top of the wand allows the sensor to be angled — always keep the sensor face pointing directly upward (perpendicular to the canopy) for accurate PPFD readings. Angled sensors read lower values than they should.
- Use the saved readings in the Treegers PAR Meter's AVG function to calculate your average canopy PPFD for use with the Growcast's PPFD targeting feature.
How to Use the Extendable Wand
Pairs Well With
The wand mounts directly to the PAR Meter sensor unit's 1/4" socket. These two products are designed to be used together.
Treegers Growcast ControllerCanopy PPFD data from your wand-assisted measurements feeds directly into the Growcast's PPFD targeting feature.
Treegers GL420W LED FixtureUse the wand to map PPFD uniformity across the GL420W's 1.2m canopy footprint. Confirms your fixture height and dimmer setting are dialled in correctly.
Treegers GL650W+ LED FixtureAt 1.5m canopy coverage, the wand becomes more useful — reaching the centre from the edge of a 1.5m room requires the extended length.
Treegers GL1000W+ LED FixtureMapping a 1.5 x 1.8m canopy cleanly by hand is awkward. The extended wand makes a thorough 9-point grid measurement practical.
LED Grow LightsThe wand works with any PAR meter using a 1/4" sensor mount — useful for verifying the output of any grow light in your room, not just Treegers fixtures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this wand work with my Treegers Quantum PAR Meter?
Yes — the wand is designed specifically for the Treegers Quantum PAR Meter. The sensor unit on that meter includes a 1/4" screw socket that accepts the wand's gimbal mount directly. No adapters or tools required.
Will it work with other brands of PAR meter?
Yes, potentially — the 1/4" gimbal mount is a standard thread size used on many sensor accessories. If your PAR meter sensor has a 1/4" socket, the wand will attach. Check your sensor's base for a 1/4" thread before ordering.
How long is it when fully extended?
The wand extends to 75.5cm from a collapsed length of 25cm. Combined with your arm reach from the edge of a tent, 75.5cm is enough to reach the centre of most standard 1.2m and 1.5m tents without stepping inside the canopy.
Do I need this wand if my tent is only 1.0 x 1.0m?
Not really — in a 1.0 x 1.0m tent you can reach the centre manually with the standard 1.5m coiled cable on the PAR meter. The wand becomes genuinely useful in 1.2m tents and larger, where getting the sensor accurately into the centre without stepping over plants and disturbing the space becomes awkward without one.
Does the sensor need to be perfectly level to get accurate readings?
Yes — the sensor face should be pointing directly upward, perpendicular to the ceiling and the light source above it. Angling the sensor even a few degrees reduces the measured PPFD value because you are capturing a smaller effective area of the light cone. The wand's gimbal allows you to set and lock the sensor angle before positioning it over the canopy — use this to confirm the sensor is flat and upward-facing before each reading.
Reach Every Corner. Read Every Point.
A PAR map is only as accurate as the positions you can actually reach. The wand makes the full canopy accessible without disturbing it. Questions about PAR mapping your grow room? The Grow Guys team knows the numbers.
